Body Architects

The Mind Culture Podcast (since 2020) is a contemporary knowledge exchange platform in a podcast format. Today, it is an open-source database containing over 30 long episodes – interviews with over 50 guests including artists such as Florentina Holzinger, Chris Haring, Simon Mayer, Soya The Cow and many more. The project is a peek behind the scenes of the performing arts world. It presents unique personal perspectives on arts and art production, discussions about art in crisis and arts politics. The guests come from diverse art genres (contemporary dance, performance, street dance, circus, drag…) and backgrounds (experienced, established, emerging, young, older, native, migrant…). The podcast is nomadic in nature, and thus, takes place in collaboration with various spaces in Vienna (Kulturhaus Brotfabrik, Kunst Haus Wien, MAK).

Theatre der Klänge produces its own video podcasts for its own productions as well as video and audio podcasts of varying lengths on more general artistic themes and portraits in collaboration with sound design students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Video: Oskar Schlemmer and his „Lackballett“ (7:40min)

An audio-visual introduction to Oskar Schlemmer’s last stage work “Das Lackballett”, which he created and performed once in 1941 on the occasion of a celebration of the Farbwerke Herberz in Wuppertal. The video podcast introduces his work in the 1930s/40s and puts this information in context with the re-creation of “The Lacquer Ballet” in 2019 by the Düsseldorf Theater der Klänge. 2.International Movement Festival U:NEW / VIRAL VISIONS / Warsaw 2022

Short description:

The video features a preview of the dance performances and videos that were part of the programme of the second edition of the International Movement Festival U:NEW realised as part of the Viral Visions project. It is a teaser that gives an idea of the festival’s content and encourages audiences to visit various venues in Warsaw. The festival lasted four days and took place in September/October 2022. The director and initiator of the festival is choreographer, dancer and actress, Agata Życzkowska. The festival is planned as a regular activity of the NOWA FALA Foundation and the HOTELOKO movement makers collective and is scheduled for the end of September each year.

Short description:

Trailer from a performance by the HOTELOKO movement makers collective, which was first presented in the new version by performers Agata Życzkowska, Karina Szutko and Mirek Woźniak during the 2nd International Movement Festival U:NEW as part of the Multiplier Event – VIRAL VISIONS/Warsaw.

Extinct from our world: Caspian tiger, Taiwanese mist panther, Amur leopard, dusky shark. Performance “Extinction: REplay” Is a blue choreography for three bodies. An optimistic look at the future of our planet. Some of us will survive. The performance touches on the theme of the fear of disappearing from this planet and how to survive by acting as a group. Colours evoke physical reactions. Blue has calming properties. Colours affect our body and allow us to combat various undesirable states, including fear. Blue makes us happy. It soothes high temperatures. Reduces appetite. Quenches thirst. Water is a blue gold.

HOTELOKO movement makers collective was founded by Agata Życzkowska, dancer and choreographer born in Warsaw, graduate of the Acting Department of the Theater Universtity in Łódź/Poland. Since 2009 she is president of the Theatre Development Foundation ‘NEW WAVE’. She was a performer in the Polish version of the performance “The SHOW MUST GO ON” chor. Jérôme Bel and since that moment she is working on no-dance experimental choreography. Since 2011 she has been leading the dance collective HOTELOKO movement makers. Currently she cooperates with Mirek Woźniak, Karina Szutko and Bastian Mamajek-Życzkowski.
